Olympic Dressage Rider Gallops To The Finishing Line

International dressage rider, Jane Bredin from Chippenham in Wiltshire, is hoping to complete her first Flora London Marathon in April at help raise funds for The Blue Cross, Britains pet charity.

Jane, who rode at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996 and was a World Equestrian Games team member in 1994, has always supported The Blue Cross and their work caring and rehabilitating unwanted horses and ponies. Jane is currently working with new Dressage hopeful, Lucky Star, and plans to try him for the Athens Olympic squad.

Jane said: “I chose to run for The Blue Cross because I wanted to run for a charity which had the same objectives and principles of caring for animals that I have. Running 26 miles will be a real challenge but remembering why I’m doing it will drive me on to the finishing line.”

Jane is running the 26 miles with a friend and both are looking for support from local companies and individuals to help raise over £1,500 for the animal charity.

Tracey Chittock, Events Officer at The Blue Cross, said: ‘The London Marathon is a crucial part of our fundraising calendar and it is only through the support of people like Jane, that The Blue Cross is able to continue fulfilling it’s role. Obviously the physical demands of the run means it will not be open to all, but for those who can rise to the challenge, it is a unique opportunity to achieve something extraordinary while raising money for a good cause.’

If you would like to sponsor Jane, or already have a place to run in the London Marathon and would like to join her in raising money for The Blue Cross, please contact Tracey Chittock at The Blue Cross on 01993 825557.

The Blue Cross is Britain's pet charity, providing information, advice and practical support for pet and horse owners. Through its network of animal adoption centres it rehomes thousands of animals each year. Its hospitals provide veterinary care for the pets of people who cannot afford private vets' fees.
