musical ride of the Household Cavalry during each performance at
the Championships. It will be the first time that this amazing display
will be performed at a major venue outside London.
Specially
choreographed for the occasion, the display that will be performed
in an array of spectacular lighting effects and accompanied by vibrant
music. Mounted on beautiful black horses and resplendent in their
red and blue tunics, gleaming steel cuirasses and plumed helmets,
the Household Cavalry will captivate and enthrall with their fast-moving

The
Household Cavalry Musical Ride is made up of twenty-seven serving
soldiers from the squadrons of The Blues and Royal and The Life
Guards. The soldiers wear full dress, as used on all state occasions,
and are joined by the four State Trumpeters, mounted on grey horses
and the magnificent drum horse.

Gill, Director of Grandstand Event Management Ltd, commented, "The
British Open is more than just show jumping. It's an event for all
horse enthusiasts and will contain a variety of exciting displays
- there will be something for everyone. We are particularly thrilled
to host the Household Cavalry and it is very fitting that one of
the country's top equestrian displays, which is so quintessentially
British, will be one of the top attractions at this prestigious
new event. It will provide the region with a rare opportunity to
witness such a magnificent spectacle."
In
addition to the Household Cavalry's Musical Ride, the show will
host three other displays and entertainments which will be announced
shortly. The displays will intersperse the world-class show jumping

to compete alongside International riders for a share of the £150,000
total prize fund and the coveted title of British Open Champion.
Top
show jumper Michael Whitaker commented, "We are looking forward
to contesting the British Open Championships - it will be top class
