Molly Ashe and King Louie Win 2 Days in a Row!

Wellington, FL – February 20, 2003 – Molly Ashe and King Louie won again today. Yesterday, Molly and King Louie won the $7,500 1.45 m Time First Jump-off and today, they won the $7,500 1.45 m Time First Jump-off again beating a field of 54 horses.

With 47 horses attempting the course today, Millcreek’s Marco Taere won the $25,000 WEF Challenge Cup. Six of the 47 horses qualified for the timed jump-off – four of those horses had clean jump-off performances, 2 horses had 8 faults each. But, Millcreeek’s Marco Taere was 1.38 seconds faster than the second-placed Chardo ridden by Megan Lamaze and 2.36 seconds faster than the third-placed Royal Discovery with Markus Beerbaum riding. Millcreek’s Marco Taere is a Belgium Warmblood gelding by Darco.

Miracle ridden by Ken Smith and owned by Christy Russo was Champion in the Regular Working Hunter division. Ken said “Miracle was “Horse of the Year” in the 2nd Year Hunters last year, and this is only her second time out as a four-foot horse – so her performance today is thrilling. I am very pleased.” Reserve Champion in the Regular Working was

Scott Stewart was Champion in the 2nd Year Green Hunters with Grace owned by Sarah Alvarez. Nairobi with Morgan Thomas riding for Kimberly Wang Unlimited was Reserve Champion.

The First Year Hunters section A began today with a duel between Sheffield with T. Whitehead, Just Looking and Leslie Howard, and Checkmate with Rob Bielefeld – they were placed 1-2-3 in the first class. In the second First Year Class, they were Just Looking –first, Checkmate –second, and Sheffield – third. Tomorrow will decide who survives as Champion and Reserve. Section B of First Year Hunters had Titleist win 2 classes for Scott Stewart and owner Manhatten Mortgage.

Tickets to the Winter Equestrian Festival are available by phone at 793-JUMP or at the gate. Admission is free on Wednesdays. Children 12 & under are free all days. Senior admission is $5 every day. Adult admission is $5 on Thursday and Friday, $10 on Saturday, and $15 on Sunday. Parking is free.
