In-depth interviews with Dutch riding stars lensed
for HorseTV
Exclusive interviews with the 2000 Individual Dressage Gold Medalist,
Anky van Grunsven, and with four time Olympian Tineke Bartels, both
of The Netherlands, have
been recorded for HorseTV by SportsQuest International.
The celebrated equestrian athletes were in the United States as
the featured participants in a recent symposium conducted by the
California Dressage Society (CDS) at the Murieta Equine Complex,
near Sacramento.
The interviews were conducted by SportsQuest International's Senior
Producer, Melvin Cox, with the assistance of KMTP-TV's Daniel Fountenberry.
The interviews will form the cornerstone of a special presentation
on Dressage that is to air this spring on HorseTV.
Tineke Bartels has competed successfully in each of the Olympic
equestrian disciplines -
showjumping, eventing and dressage.
As an event rider, she won the Dutch national championship in 1974
with her mare Irene. In 1977 she won a Gold medal with the Dutch
Eventing Team during the European
championships for rural riders in Porrentruy, Switzerland. From
1984 to 1997 she was a member of the Dutch Dressage Team. During
this period, she participated in four (4) Olympic Games, winning
two (2) Silver team medals. Ms. Bartels also won five (5) Silver
and Bronze medals at World and European championships. She participated
in a record number of World Cup finals. Bartels' "Big Pony
book" is an equestrian bestseller in 5 languages, with over
30,000 copies sold . A new book, "Riding with Tineke Bartels"
has sold more than 10,000 copies to date in Holland.

Anky
van Grunsven is the most successful female dressage rider in Holland,
having won the Dutch Dressage Championships eleven times to date.
In 1999, van Grunsven
won Gold at the European Championships in Arnhem with her most famous
mount, the legendary Gestion Bonfire.
Her Olympic career has earned her a Gold Individual and Silver Team
Medal in Sydney, a Silver Individual, Silver Team Medal in Atlanta
and the Silver Team medal in
Barcelona. Aboard Gestion Bonfire, Ms. Van Grunsven won the Dressage
World Cup Finals in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2000.
