ILPH Foot & Mouth delays Opening of State of the Art Equine Centre

The opening to the public of Penny Farm an Equine Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre at Peel, nr Blackpool, is yet another casualty of the Foot and Mouth outbreak.

Due to open its gates on 1st April the new ILPH (International League for the Protection of Horses) Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre, is to stay closed until MAFF lift their ban on the movement of livestock.

The same delay in opening applies to the ILPH run Underhill Touring Caravan and Camping site nextdoor which was also due to open its doors to the public on 1st April.

Says Lesley Southwood, Trading Company Manager at the ILPH, "At present we have sheep grazing on site which cannot be moved because of the current Foot and Mouth restrictions. Both the Touring Caravan and Camping site and our equine Recovery and Rehabilitation Centre nextdoor, together with its Visitors' Centre, as well as our 5 other UK Centres, will remain closed until Government restrictions are lifted."

Those wishing to visit the horses and the Visitors' Centre and/or stay at the Touring Caravan and Camping site can find up-to-date information from the ILPH website at www.ilph.org, from local papers or by ringing 01253 766983 (R & R Centre) or 01253 763107 (caravan site).
