FIRESTONE FIRST & THIRD

WELLINGTON, FL - March 9, 2001 - US Equestrian Team Veteran ALISON FIRESTONE of Upperville, VA was in the ribbons twice in Friday's MODIFIED JUMPER at Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Club in Wellington. Firestone took FIRST PLACE honors aboard the 11 year-old Dutch bred gelding, ROYAL DISCOVERY and THIRD PLACE up on 11 year-old Swedish gelding, CASANOVA. Firestone rode a clear jump-off track against 15 qualifiers out of a field of 24 starters in 41.002 seconds with ROYAL DISCOVERY, edging LAURA CHAPOT of Neshanic Station, NJ and her 12 year-old Dutch bred chestnut gelding, SUNDANCE into second place with a penalty-free round and time of 41.858 seconds. Firestone and Casanova stopped the timers at 42.395 seconds to clinch the third position.

Show jumping action continues this weekend with Olympic caliber competitions. Look for 2000 Olympic athletes, Margie Goldstein Engle, Laura Kraut and Peter Leone as they contend for the $100,000 Cosequin US OPEN JUMPER CHAMPIONSHIP, Sunday at 2PM. Call (561) 793 - JUMP.
