SEARCH FOR A STAR
Horse of the Year Show 2002

Talent Search Moves With HOYS To Birmingham
New selection venues in Sussex and Wiltshire

Search for a Star, now entering its seventh year, will be giving amateur riders and owners an extra incentive this year - the chance to be amongst the first to compete at the Horse of the Year Show's new home, the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham.

The competition, designed to give amateurs an opportunity to compete at the Horse of the Year Show, was devised and is run by South Essex Insurance Brokers. There are six categories and selection days are run at five venues around the country. The first two in each category are invited to take part in the final when judges Robert Oliver and Anne Pritchard select five champions and a supreme champion.

"This has become a very important competition and the standard rises each year," said Robert Oliver. "Last year's winner, Classic Court, was one of the best horses we have seen since it began and possibly among the finest animals at Wembley that year.

"This is going to be an important year for the Horse of the Year Show and a great occasion for competitors. It has been running for more than half a century and this will be only the second time it has moved - from Harringey to Wembley and from Wembley to Birmingham."
