There will be a designated Foxhall children's area where the youngsters
can play or make arts and crafts. The Douglasville Junior League
will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19 at 1:00 p.m.
While the children are playing, the adults will have unique shopping
opportunities in the Foxhall Market Place, which will be filled
with vendors selling appealing equestrian and garden themed merchandise.
The Daughters of the British Empire will serve tea each afternoon
from 1pm until 3pm.
The
Foxhall Flower Show, in its second year, is the only outdoor flower
show in the United States with Standard Flower Show status. This
year's theme, "A Southern Springtime," will reflect the
history of traditional European open-air flower shows, while showcasing
the best of the American South. Featuring the creativity of award
winning professional and amateur designers, Foxhall will offer Show
Garden, Horticulture and Floral Design divisions. Exhibitors will
compete for $60,000 in prizes. Attendees will be exposed to exceptional
outdoor show gardens and will be informed about the latest trends
in gardening through informational displays and a lecture series.
In
its fourth year, the Foxhall Cup has been designated the National
Championship of Eventing by USA Equestrian. Over one hundred international
and American riders, including 2000 Sydney Olympic Gold Medallist
David O'Connor, will compete for $50,000. Eventing features Dressage,
Cross-Country, and Show Jumping and is the ultimate comprehensive
test of the all-around ability of the horse and rider. Captain Mark
Philips, the Foxhall Cup cross-country course designer, has made
innovative modifications to the course that covers Foxhall Farm
and runs through the Foxhall Flower Show. This year there will be
other events, including a Driving Exhibition and Dressage Exhibition.
