Carey
Makes It An Army Double At Monte Carlo
IRISH
Army rider Lt. Shane Carey racked up the second Irish win at the
prestigious Monte Carlo international show jumping competition today
(Saturday), riding the Irish-bred Clover Hill gelding Killossery,
with whom he won the Prix Liebherr speed class yesterday.
Carey
today won the Prix THERMES MARINS DE MONTE-CARLO, an accumulator
class with Joker, on 44 points in a time of 47.16 seconds, in a
field of 35 riders from all over the world. Yesterday he won the
speed class with a time of 54.56 seconds, shaving fractions of a
second off Belgium's Kristof Cleeren's time of 54.99 seconds.
Carey has just come back into international competition following
recovery from a compound fracture of the wrist incurred while preparing
for the Army Nations Cup in Chile in February.
The
Army riders Lt. Shane Carey and Lt. David O'Brien are at the Monte
Carlo show at the special invitation of the Ireland Fund of Monaco,
which is run by Bill Vincent.
