NA/WPN
Announces New Chairman
|
The
Dutch Warmblood Studbook in North America (NA/WPN), Inc. announced
today the resignation of its founder and Chairman of the Board,
J. Ashton Moore. Mary H. Giddens, DVM, has been selected to replace
Mr. Moore, and will assume the positions of Executive Director and
Chairman of the Board of the NA/WPN.
Jeff
Moore, along with Elizabeth Searle, founded the NA/WPN in 1983 while
on a stallion buying trip to Holland. "We met with officials
of the Dutch studbook (KWPN) at that time, and we received real
encouragement from them to start a foreign department of the KWPN
with the goal of promoting the Dutch horse in an atmosphere of organizational
stability and breeder support. We've grown from one horse and a
dream to a membership of 1400 breeders and competitors and 7,000
horses. I felt it was time to pass the baton, and we were fortunate
enough to have Mary Giddens, with us for over 14 years, here to
receive it. This will be a seamless transition." Jeff Moore
will remain involved with the NA/WPN as its Honorary Chairman.
Dr.
Giddens, Managing Director of the NA/WPN since 1987, has been a
member of the keuring jury and Special Projects Coordinator. "Thanks
to Jeff we have a solid base on which to build. The Board and membership
are enthusiastic and energetic, we have a lot of plans and ideas
and I am excited about the future."
In
addition to the promotion of Dr. Giddens, the Board also announced
the addition of two new members of the Board, and four new Advisory
Committee members. The new Board members are Willy Arts and Christine
McCarthy. Willy and Chris join the present board members John Sanzo,
Deborah Harrison and Elizabeth Searle.
