Route Opened To Support Safer Riding
A
picturesque route across the Derbyshire countryside designed for
and ridden by the Queen 16 years ago will be opened for the first
time to the public next month for a sponsored ride supported by
leading national equine insurer, South Essex Insurance Brokers.
The
BHS Jubilee Sponsored Ride on May 18 and 19 is organised by the
British Horse Society with the help of South Essex and Stable Express,
and is designed to raise funds for the Society's work on making
the roads safer for horse riders and carriage drivers.
Riders
will need a minimum of £15 in sponsorship (£10 for under
16s) to start the ride, which is expected to take between two and
a half and three hours and includes the lanes and forests of the
Duchy of Lancaster Estate. It will start from Eland Lodge Farm,
near Ashbourne and will be started by international event rider
Ian Stark at 10am.
Each rider will receive a commemorative mug and rosette. Stabling
and overnight accommodation will be available and there will be
a barn dance on
the Saturday night.
Entry
forms can be downloaded from the BHS website, www.bhs.org.uk/safety
or by sending a self addressed and stamped envelope to the Safety
Department,
British Horse Society, Stoneleigh Deer Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire,
