Class Start And Potential - New Discipline Coordinators Release
More Money For Riders
|
World
Class Start and Potential (WC S & P) are delighted to welcome
four hugely talented and experienced Discipline Coordinators (DCs)
to the team in 2003. Caroline Griffiths (Dressage), Sarah Verney
(nee Cotton) (Eventing) David Hamer (Para Dressage) and Tina Goosen
(Show Jumping) have been appointed to start work in these new roles
in April.
The
DCs will assist in the running and coordination of discipline specific
WC S & P programmes - setting up an annual diary of events and
meeting with all riders and their respective trainers to establish
plans, goals and targets for the year.
The
introduction of a full programme for the first time this year has
allowed WC S & P to review the system piloted in 2002 and consolidate
staffing levels.
The
DC role replaces the WC S & P Coaches which were in place in
2002, reducing the number of key WC S & P staff from six to
four, and releasing even more budget to directly support the riders.
The
buddy and mentor system has also been completely revamped and the
funding for these roles will be partially targeted towards the new
Coaching Mentors, who have be nominated by the Disciplines, to train
and mentor the riders at squad sessions on an ad hoc basis. The
Coaches already nominated are Gill Watson and Kenneth Clawson (Eventing),
Andy Austin (Show Jumping) and Hilary Hughes (Paras).
