Burghley
Appoints New Director |
Burghley
Horse Trials has today confirmed that it has appointed Andrew Tulloch
to the position of Event Director of the Burghley Horse Trials.
Tulloch (37) will take on the post from Bill Henson who retires
after this years event.
Andrew
Tulloch is no stranger to Eventing having himself competed or officiated
at a wide range of Three Day Events from Osberton to the Atlanta
Olympics where he was an FEI Steward. Mr. Tulloch also knows Burghley
from an owners perspective as co-owner, with his wife Jancis
(nee Lane), of the international Eventer Bally Free who was 4th
at Burghley in 1998 and was shortlisted for the Sydney Olympics
in 2000.
Andrew
Tulloch said of his appointment Burghley is not only one of
the best Three Day Events in the world but is also a great British
sporting and social occasion. Its tremendous growth over the last
10 years is in no small part down to the current Director, Bill
Henson, and I look forward, with a great deal of enthusiasm, to
working with the team at Burghley and to helping the event grow
still further.
Malcolm
Wallace, Chairman of the Burghley Committee, said: "Although
Bill will be a very difficult act to follow, we believe that we
have a worthy successor in Andrew. He already has a considerable
knowledge of Three-Day Eventing and through his involvement at Aintree,
where he will continue to act as Clerk of the Course, he is well
used to the staging of high profile events. Fortunately, there is
no clash of dates and Andrew's work at both Aintree and Burghley
should compliment each other."
Charles
Barnett, Managing Director of Aintree Racecourse said: We
are delighted at the news and feel that Andrews appointment
will dovetail extremely well with his position as Clerk of the Course
at Aintree and Cartmel.
