Eclipse Press Author Julia McEvoy Wins Peabody Award
For Radio Series
LEXINGTON, KY - Julia McEvoy, co-author of Women in Racing, published
by Eclipse Press, has received a prestigious Peabody Award for the
Chicago Public Radio series "Stories of Home," which aired
last spring. The eleven first-person stories sought to examine the
unusual ways people think about home through intimate looks at the
lives of Chicagoans. McEvoy was executive producer of the series.
McEvoy previously has won an Eclipse Award for outstanding radio coverage
of Thoroughbred racing.
In Women in Racing, McEvoy and her father, racing journalist John
McEvoy, interviewed women in all facets of the sport. Well-known sports
commentator Charlsie Cantey, top trainer Jenine Sahadi, and retired
jockey Donna Barton are among the women profiled. Women in Racing
