$1.5
Million in HUD Funding Rounded Up for Horse Park Project
Congressman
Alan B. Mollohan (D-W.Va.) announced on Friday, March 21 that $1.57
million of the latest U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding
has been set aside for the development of the Horse Park and Multi-Use
Event Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown, West Virginia. The project
is also slated to receive two additional years of HUD funding, covering
a substantial portion of the Phase One development cost. Once fully
complete, the Horse Park will be the largest facility of its kind
within a five-hour drive of Morgantown. According to Congressman
Mollohan, "the Horse Park will be unique to the region, and
therefore will further enhance Mylan Park's recreational offerings
and its economic impact."
The
project is being designed by gh2 GRALLA ARCHITECTS, LLC of Tulsa,
Oklahoma. The firm has also provided pre-development planning, marketing,
and funding assistance for the Horse Park project over the past
18 months. Construction is expected to start in late summer with
the first events being hosted by summer 2004.
