Alberta,
Canada, To Support Popular Hickstead Class
One
of Hickstead's popular showjumping classes at the British Jumping
Derby Meeting is to be sponsored by Alberta, Canada, and travel
partners
The
Alberta Canada Salver, to be held in the International Arena on
August 14, first day of the meeting, will be sponsored by Travel
Alberta and its partners - Canadian Tourism Commission, Rocky Mountaineer
Railtours and The Independent Traveller/Ranch Rider.
It
has been a popular class for some years, carrying £3,000 in
prize money. Many leading riders use it to give experience to younger
horses, or to introduce horses to the famous International Arena,
which they say has an atmosphere "all its own."
Hickstead
owner Douglas Bunn said: "Hickstead is a truly international
venue, and Travel Alberta and its co-sponsors are a very welcome
addition to our many supporters. The Alberta Canada Salver is an
important competition on the Derby Meeting programme."
Travel
Alberta UK Sales and Marketing Manager Amanda Newby de Saulles added:
"Travel Alberta is delighted to sponsor this prestigious event
at Hickstead,
especially as showjumping is so important to our own Province. Alberta
is home to the international venue Spruce Meadows. This is the first
time Alberta has sponsored such a major event and we are excited
to be introducing our Province to the showjumping and horse-loving
fraternity."
The
sponsorship could also benefit many of the 45,000-plus spectators
expected at the meeting, which runs from August 14 to 17. A special
offer exclusive to Hickstead will mean a £50 reduction on
any 2003 or 2004 Alberta holiday bought through Independent Traveller
and Ranch Rider..
