Fargis And Diams III Win The $50,000 EMO Grand Prix |
Culpeper, VA (April 23, 2003)Two-time Olympic Medalist, Joe
Fargis and his mount Diams III, owned by Mary B. Schwab & Oeji
Farms LLC, delivered an exciting finish to Sunday's $50,000 EMO Grand
Prix at HITS Culpeper Commonwealth Park. Out of a starting field of
thirty horses, seven advanced to the jump-off. The Sunday crowd enjoyed
a fine display of horsemanship by each successive rider, with Fargis
going last and providing the final flourish. Fargis took top honors
in a very fast time of 45.91 seconds, edging out Laura Linback and
Remember Me 9 by 1.11 seconds and putting them in second place. Callan
Solem and Allison took third place in a time of 48.83 seconds.
The
$50,000 EMO Grand Prix ended a very successful opening week at HITS
Culpeper. The circuit will offer a $50,000 Grand Prix each week.
The final week, September 24-28, will include the King Shavings
USGPL invitational finals featuring: $100,000 Invitational Grand
Prix, $15,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Low Invitational, $25,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner
High Invitational, and $25,000 Pre-Green Hunter Invitational Classic,
sponsored by Stillwell-Hansen and Four Winds Farm. The New Marshall
& Sterling League National Standings will be used to determine
the top 30 to qualify in each category.
