We
are thrilled with last years success, said event organizer
Chris Eaves. For this year, we are looking forward to an expanded
cross-country course with several new fences that should be fun
for the riders and spectators.
Last
week officials approved several new obstacles. CIC**, CCI* and **
competitors will confront a new test at the water complex. Riders
will be asked to drop into the water and jump out through a combination.
Horse and rider are required to be confident and balanced to conquer
this test. Other new fences include several corners that vary in
degree of angle based on the division entered.
We
have designed this course to help prepare horses and riders for
the next level of competition, Eaves explained. Introductions
to obstacles are made at the lower levels and become more technical
as divisions advance. This will make the transition to more difficult
divisions easier on both horse and rider, which keeps the sport
both safe and fun.
CCI**
officials include Roger Haller (GA), best known as course designer
for the Atlanta Olympics, as the Technical Delegate. President of
the Ground Jury is Karen Winn Bulter (KY), Loris Henry (CA), Deeda
Randle (WY), and Lise Martin of Canada comprise the remainder of
the jury. The cross-country course is designed by 2003 Pan American
Games designer Derek Di Grazia. Colorados own Candy Gray will
design the show jumping course.
