The Good News is that the ILPH Summer Show 2001 isnt a casualty of foot and mouth disease and is still going ahead with free entry to the showground this year and the possibility of winning £3,000 ! One of the principle attractions in the main arena will be the daring stunt riding team, the 'Horsemen of the Apocalypse' - who have featured in numerous television programmes and films, including 'Sharpe', Sleepy Hollow', 'Merlin' and 'Jason and the Argonauts' to name but a few. For those who like life at a more leisurely pace the other principle main ring event is Tanya Larrigans Mini Marvels. Tanya puts on an enchanting long-reining display with her beautiful team of miniature horses who have appeared at the European Dressage Championships as well many county and country shows throughout the UK. Other attractions appearing in the main arena include displays by the Kings Troop and the Horse Rangers as well as the draw for the £3,000 raffle winner ! In the ILPH Welfare Village visitors will be able to discover more about the ILPHs rehabilitation work with rescued and recovering horses and ponies. They will be able to go on a guided tour around the farm to see the facilities and some of the recently arrived welfare cases as well as those undergoing rehabilitation. International Training Team members will also be on hand to explain about the farriery, harness making and horse management courses run by the ILPH in developing countries. There will be trade stands, a kiddies play area, refreshments and a Tombola stall that is second to none with numerous prizes generously donated by local businesses. Saddles, bridles, rugs, riding gear and bits and pieces can all be found on the second hand tack stall all at knock down prices ! The adjacent Horse Show boasts eight rings with 60 classes throughout the day including affiliated and unaffiliated showing and jumping, driving and a minmus - promising to cater for everybody. Schedules available from local tack shops or by sending a sae to Mel Edwards at ILPH HQ, Snetterton, Norwich, NR16 2LR. A bigger than ever Dog Show will be held too, with showing and obedience classes plus terrier racing in the afternoon. Those who are interested in dog agility will be able to watch demonstrations and be able to take their dogs around the course in supervised sessions (only for dogs over 1 year old).
