Ward In Second After Day Two Of World Cup Competition

McLain Ward, 26, of Brewster, New York is sitting in second after day two of the FEI World Cup Jumping Final taking place in Leipzig, Germany, May 1 - 5, 2002. Ward, the 2001/2002 AGA Rider of the year, and his mount, 10-year-old, Dutch Warmblood gelding, Viktor (Concorde - Gostella, by Bentley) have two penalty points to sit behind Germany's Ludger Beerbaum.

Riders qualified in 105 competitions in 13 Leagues around the world in this 24th season of the FEI World Cup Jumping. Approximately 42 of the top riders in the world come together to vie for the World Cup title. The US team of McLain Ward, Laura Kraut, Leslie Howard, Lauren Hough, Will Simpson, Margie Goldstein-Engle, Ray Texel, Robert Chelberg, Richard Spooner, and Vanessa Haas will compete again on Sunday in the final round to determine the 2002 World Cup winner.
