BEF
Makes The Grade For Racial Equality
|
The
British Equestrian Federation has achieved the Preliminary Level
of the Sporting Equals' Achieving Racial Equality - A Standard For
Sport.
All
Members of the BEF signed up to the Racial Equality Charter for
Sport last year, pledging to work towards objectives to promote
racial equality within the equestrian sports.
The
British Horse Society and Pat Gaywood, the BHS Development Officer,
led the work towards achieving this award.
Andrew
Finding, BEF Chief Executive, said; "We thank the BHS and Pat
Gaywood, on behalf of all members of the BEF, for their work and
contribution to the success in getting to this stage of approval
for the entire Federation. I know this has taken a great deal of
effort for Pat personally and for the BHS as a whole, we are most
grateful to them."
"We
are especially pleased that Sporting Equals highlighted the collective
work of the Federation - the BEF's Member Bodies are united in their
wish to promote equality in our sport and open the doors for more
people to participate."
Kay
Driver, BHS Chief Executive, said: "The BHS leads on this important
new work for the members of the BEF, and we share a commitment to
encourage everyone to enjoy riding or driving."
