Places left
for the WEBIT project final conference: Education and Management in
the Equine Industry through IT
On Monday 12th May 2003, Equistudy, Warwickshire College's distance
learning unit, is holding the WEBIT Project Final Conference at Moreton
Hall on the college's Moreton Morrell campus. The conference will
examine the use of information communication technology (ICT) in the
equine business, with particular emphasis on work-based training and
equine management.
The
£500,000 WEBIT (Warwickshire Equine Based Internet Training)
project, which is financed through the European Social Fund, has
established some excellent learning links with local equine businesses.
It is hoped to build on this work through the new Equine CoVE (Centre
of Vocational Excellence) initiative that emphasises supporting
education in the horse industry. Warwickshire College received CoVE
status in Equine Studies at the start of 2003.
The
WEBIT conference will provide an insight into IT solutions by focusing
on two areas of particular interest to equine business: health and
safety training and management of day-to-day activities in riding
schools.
Mini-demonstrations
and presentations will be available after lunch and will provide
a close look at a variety of practical IT solutions in the areas
of equine business marketing, training, education and business management
activities.
The
conference is subsidised by the European Social Fund for those in
the West Midlands area, although those outside this area are welcome
to attend for a fee of £15, which includes lunch and delegate
bag.
