|
IRELAND'S
Cian O'Connor took the brakes off his main horse, <Waterford
Crystal>, for the final competition at Fontainebleau, France
today (Sunday), and romped home to a convincing second place behind
French star Eric Navet in the Grand Prix.
O'Connor,
who jumped a double clear today, also had a sixth in Saturday's
speed class, riding his ten yr-old bay mare <ABC Land Liebe>
and will now be looking forward to the first of the 2004 Nations
Cup Super League series at La Baule, France, next week. With him
there will be Marion Hughes, Jessica Kurten, Peter Charles, and
Kevin Babington.
Babington,
Charles and O'Connor are shortlisted for the Irish team travelling
to the Athens Olympics, along with Robert Splaine and Billy Twomey.
