AIRC CANCELS FESTIVAL BUT CONFIRMS OTHER NATIONAL EVENTS

Association of Irish Riding Clubs Chairman, Peter Roberts, reported today (Tuesday June 13) that the AIRC Executive Committee have, after careful consideration of all factors, cancelled their 2-day Festival at Tattersalls for 2001. The enforced change of dates from the more suitable June Bank Holiday weekend, together with a full assessment of the financial implications, have influenced this decision.

However, the remaining National events stand - and some have been augmented to include classes from the Festival.

The full list is as follows:

National Show Jumping Championship, also incorporating a range of Working Hunter classes and Clear Round jumping, at Mullingar Equestrian Centre on Saturday 14th July. Entries close Friday 29th June.

Team Show Jumping at the Royal Dublin Society (Simmonscourt Arena) Sunday 12th August. Regional qualifiers are in place for this competition.

Team Dressage Championships at Kilcooley Abbey, Thurles, Co. Tipperary on Sunday 2nd September. It is also hoped to introduce a Combined Training competition as well as Individual dressage. Entries close Monday 20th August.

National One Day Event Championship at The Charlie Swan Equestrian Centre, Modreeney, Cloughjordan, Co. Tipperary on Sunday 23rd September. Entries close on Friday 7th September

The AIRC prides itself on providing a full range of activities to suit all grade of rider and rider. The remainder of 2001 will continue this policy, and will include opportunities for Training of both riders and volunteers at a range of venues around the country.
