Tahoe HITS Tahoe Charity Partners Benefit From Horse Show Ticket Sales

SAUGERTIES, NY (June 13, 2001)-Horse Shows In The Sun is presenting HITS Tahoe, a four-week hunter/jumper horse show circuit, from June 27 to July 22, in Minden, Nevada, for the second consecutive year, and is again working with local charities that will benefit from ticket sales. HITS Tahoe horse shows will be held Wednesday through Sunday with free admission every day except Sunday, when adults pay $5 each. The proceeds are donated to the charities that have partnered with HITS. Last year five Carson Valley charities each received a check for $1,227. In addition to a percentage of the total gate, the five charities were allowed to keep all of the money for tickets sold before the show-several of the charities each pre-sold more than 200 tickets, and one group sold over 300. This year, HITS is working with nine charities in the Carson Valley.

"HITS works with charities at all of our show grounds in essentially the same way-we provide tickets to the organizations to pre-sell for our Sunday Grand Prix events and they keep 100% of the ticket sales," explained Tom Struzzieri, owner and president of HITS, the Saugerties, New York-based company that produces horse shows at six sites nationwide, including HITS Tahoe. "The charities that work as ticket-takers receive a percentage of the gate as well. We also offer our grounds as a fundraiser site for charity luncheons or other special events. We're happy to donate the money and we welcome the spectators the charities bring in."

Of the nine charities selected as HITS Tahoe 2001 partners to benefit from horse show ticket sales, five of those charities will act as ticket-takers and parking directors at the show grounds on Sundays¾these groups will receive a percentage of the gate for their efforts. They are Carson Valley Sertoma; U.S. Pony Club, Sierra Pacific Region; Soroptimist International of Carson Valley; Kiwanis Club of Gardnerville-Carson Valley; and Minden Rotary. Selling tickets to the horse show throughout the run of the show are City of Refuge; Christmas Cheer All Year; Carson City Boys and Girls Club; and the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Authority. The Carson Valley Chamber will also host a mixer at the show grounds to introduce local businesses to the horse show as well as to enjoy the unique environment of the VIP tent with its dual view of the Grand Prix ring and the main hunter ring.
