"Ladies Only -- Practical Horsemanship with Beverly Howe"
By Bonnie Davis

Nestled in the northeast corner of Oregon not far from the Hells Canyon area, the Wil Howe Ranch offers Schooling Classes unlike anyother in the Nation. Utilizing their "From Foundation to Finished" Training Program along with "knowlege is the door, application is the key...." approach to all their Schooling Classes, Howe clients from throughout the Nation and the World arrive at their rustic ranch.

A husband and wife team, Beverly and Wil each share a perspective of horses and people that compliments the overall Schooling Schedule whether they teach individually or as a team. And one of those 'individual' Classes will be Beverly's "Ladies Only: Practical Horsemanship" scheduled from July 7 - 13, 2002 at their Richland, Oregon ranch.

Beverly, a dynamic, energetic person who has a you-can-do-this-too attitude, has the ability to inspire confidence in each and every student by tapping their inner abilities and self awareness. "Practical Horsemanship with Beverly Howe -- Ladies Only" is an intimate week of relationship and confidence building for you and your horse along with other women with similar interests!

The women's only class will cover: Creative Round Pen Work; Leadership in Ground Work; Equine Body Work & Stretching Exercises; Confidence & Harmony Exercises - Bareback & in the Saddle; Effective Riding Skills & Communications by "Getting the most out of your horse" with correct cues, use of seat, reins, leg aids and spurs; plus Effective Grooming, Bathing & Clipping Techniques. Riding time will include round pen, arena, obstacle course and pro-active trail riding on nearby trails!

Nestled in a lush irrigated valley of hay fields, pastures and fruit trees, the ranch is surrounded with rolling high desert hills, sagebrush and wild flowers. Students registered are asked to arrive after 2pm on Sunday, July 7th. Sunday's evening barbeque will be followed by orientation.

Typical daily routines begin at about 7 am around a Country Continental Breakfast. Everyone then saddles up and is ready to ride by 8 am in the morning session. Lunch break is around noon. Afternoon sessions run from about 1 - 2 pm but are flexible from day to day. Some days will be more involved with round pen, arena and individual sessions but on other days there may be more time spent out on the trail for that 'magic time'. During the evenings, folks will gather around the campfire to review the day's accomplishments, spin tales and forge friendships which will last a lifetime.

For those staying in the bunkhouse, accommodations are primitive but quaint, neat and clean. RV accommodations are on site. And three miles down the road in Richland is the Hitchin' Post Motel where reservations are made at the General/Grocery Store and the phone is turned off at 9 pm. But regardless of where one may stay, the hectic pace of everyday life is left behind during a Wil Howe Ranch Schooling Session.

"Practical Horsemanship with Beverly Howe -- Ladies Only" is limited in students so sign up now. Tuition includes Bunkhouse accommodations, RV parking, Continental Breakfasts and board for one horse (or one can make arrangements for a Wil Howe Trained Horse). For registration or more information contact Beverly or Wil at (541) 893-6535 or log onto website www.wilhowe.com.
