Kimberly Frey Wins Thursday Feature at 33rd Annual Lake Placid Horse
Show
Lake Placid, NY June 27, 2002 Kimberly Frey of Hume,
VA rode Conawara to victory in the Lake Placid Lodge Power and Speed
Stake Thursday at the 33rd annual Lake Placid Horse Show.
McLain
Ward of Brewster, NY, the top ranked rider on the U.S. Equestrian
Team (USET) Show Jumping Rider List and winner of last Sundays
$50,000 Rolex USET Show Jumping Championship, took an early lead
in the class when he rode Galant to fault-free rides over both portions
of the course, finishing the speed section in 32.919 seconds.
Frey,
the 19th of 39 entries to ride the 10-jump power portion of the
course at the North Elba Showgrounds, moved Ward out of the lead
by matching his fault-free performance and bettering his time over
the five-jump speed section by finishing in 32.900 seconds.
The
remaining entries failed to catch Freys time with the closest
being Candice King of Wellington, FL who wound up third behind Frey
and Ward after finishing fault-free in 33.393 seconds on Espadon.
Two-time U.S. Olympic veteran Lisa Jacquin of Collegeville, PA finished
fourth with a time of 34.201 seconds on Justice.
More
than 1300 horses and the nations best show jumping riders
are at the Lake Placid Horse Show competing for $360,000 prize money.
