The Calistoga Classic Horse Show at Napa County Fairgrounds July 17-20

March 20, 2003, Calistoga, CA--Mark your calendar for July 17-20, 2003, when The Calistoga Classic horseshow comes to the Napa County Fairgrounds in Calistoga. Its exciting new format features the best of local businesses and attractions in addition to top caliber horses and riders from all over the West Coast.

Thursday night opens with the Fiesta Party, featuring authentic Mexican, food, dancing and displays, plus a hotly contested Groom’s Class (tickets available at the door). Friday night, enjoy the Hoedown Party hosted by Joe and Jennifer Montana, with the band Pure Ecstasy a barbecue, and special door prizes following the $5,000 Beringer Welcome Stake, where the first prize is a Hawaiian trip sponsored by Viviani Touring Company. Tickets are available for $50 per person.

Morning highlights during the show include the special Young Horse Division, with $5000 in prize money supported by local veterinarians on Friday; the $2,500 Cal Mart Young Horse Classic and the $5000 Purina Non-Pro Prix for junior and amateur riders, both on Saturday. Admission is free to watch these events, and also for Saturday’s “Horseworld” exhibition in the infield of the racetrack, which will include dressage, polo, carriage horses, pony rides and more. Horseworld starts at 10AM and continues all day.

A popular Napa Valley institution and fundraiser is one of the show’s highlights: The Napa Valley Classic lights up Saturday night, including a fabulous wine and cheese party, silent auction, and a fast-paced Calcutta auction prior to the main attraction, the exciting $10,000 Sutter Home Speed Class. Please call 707-942-4222 or visit www.Napavalleyclassic.com for tickets to this charity event.

Sunday is family day, showcasing the competitive $1,000 Napa Valley Equestrian Center Pony Prix and the $25,000 Grand Prix of the Napa Valley, supported by local businesses such as Central Valley Builders’ Supply and nationwide ones such as Oster and Blackburn Architects. Plan on attending the Little League Pancake Breakfast on the Grand Prix field at 10:30AM; tickets are $6 and available at the door.

Ringside table seating will be available throughout the show. In addition, spectators and exhibitors will enjoy a fun “vendor row” located behind the Grand Prix ring in the shade, which will feature local vendors, artists, and farmer’s market sellers.

Thanks to our many businesses who are involved as sponsors, including Riding Magazine, Bank of the West, Ost Engineering, Santa Rosa Saddlery, Mill Creek Veterinary Service, Equipedic, Back in the Saddle, Point Reyes Inn, Breyer, Bank of America, Saddles to Boots, and more.
