Wins Eindhoven Derby
|
IRELAND'S
TREVOR Coyle has clinched the prestigious Eindhoven Derby in the
Netherlands today (Sunday) with the American-owned bay mare <Fleur>,
and picks up a brand new Audi A3 car for his efforts.
Dungannon-born
Coyle (42) was Ireland's only entrant in the Show Jumping World
Cup at Las Vegas in April, and has been staging a comeback during
the last 12 months on the international circuit. He was runner-up
in the World Cup in 1999, riding the Irish-bred stallion <Cruising>.
He
finished the first round of the Eindhoven Derby with one of only
three clear rounds, and with a single pole down in the second round,
could not be reached by runner-up Michel Robert of France, who picked
up eight faults.
