Show Jumping - Kerrygold Grand Prix League - Rolestown Sees
First Courtney Win
|
LINDA
COURTNEY has been a consistent performer on the Kerrygold Grand
Prix League circuit this year, but today (Saturday) saw her first
2003 victory, at Rolestown in Co. Dublin.
With
a substantial field of 34 starters, and beautiful weather, nine
riders and horses made it through to the jump-off, with Linda and
her own <Cavaleve> showing everyone a clean pair of heels
in a second-round time of 35.72, just shading Harry Marshall on
<Splendido>, who came in fractions of a second slower.
There
were only four double clears in today's competition, and the winner
and runner-up were well ahead of the other double clears on time.
Though
the First and Second places at Rolestown do not bring either Courtney
or Marshall into the Top Six in the Kerrygold Leaderboard, they
are now just a few points behind, with Linda at Seventh and Harry
at Eighth, showing 25 and 23 points respectively.
Neither
rider will improve on their score tomorrow (Sunday), for they will
not be competing at the Super League venue of Charleville in Co.
Cork.
Peter
Smyth was the only mover on the Leaderboard after today's Grand
Prix, rising one place to Fifth overall.
