ILPH
Summer Show an Unqualified Success
|
With
an estimated 6,000 people through the gates of the ILPH Summer Show,
at ILPH Hall Farm, Norfolk, last Saturday (21 June) it was deemed
yet again, a resounding success.
The
top attractions in the main arena, the stunt riding team the Horsemen
of the Apocalypse and the King's Troop with their tent pegging display
and gun carriage team certainly drew the crowds.
An
extra bonus for all ILPH supporters present was the opportunity
to see, and touch, ILPH Penny (or Hallmark as she is now known).
Penny came into ILPH Penny Farm, near Blackpool, a couple of years
ago with 3 other welfare cases. She is now a 'wheeler' in the Kings
Troop gun carriage team, and is another success story for the ILPH.
The
sun shone brightly all day with a cooling breeze which made life
a bit more comfortable for the other horses, and competitors elsewhere
on the showground who were competing in the Horse Show.
With
nearly 300 horses and ponies competing in 81 affiliated and unaffiliated
classes for 21 championships, the horse show too was a huge success.
"It
was particularly pleasing," remarks Mel Edwards, ILPH Fundraising
Officer and Show Secretary, "to see ILPH horses and ponies
doing so well in many of the classes, holding their own against
some very strong competition - the standard overall was extremely
high with many horses and ponies well up to County Show standard."
Continues
Mel, "Considering it was the first time this year that we held
Haflinger classes we were pleased with the turnout so we will definitely
be holding them again next year !"
