Olympic Veteran Anne Kursinski Wins Whiteface Mountain
Jump-off at 34th Annual Lake Placid Horse Show
Lake Placid, NYJune 26, 2003Four-time U.S. Olympic veteran
Anne Kursinski of Flemington, NJ claimed the top two places in the
Whiteface Mountain Jump-off, Thursdays featured event at the
34th annual Lake Placid Horse Show.
Thirteen
of the 34 entries turned in fault-free rides over the 13-jump first-round
course at the North Elba Showgrounds. Nine of these then rode fault-free
over the seven-jump second-round course and Kursinski claimed the
win with the fastest fault-free time of 31.690 seconds on Sun God.
The 1983 Pan American Games double Gold Medalist also took second
place by finishing the jump-off in 31.990 seconds on Great Point.
The
2003 Lake Placid Horse Show continues Friday with the Lake Placid
Resort North American League (NAL) Open Stake and the Turtle Lane
Farm Open Jumper Welcome Stake. Saturday features the Hilton Resort
Open Jumper Stake and the horse show culminates on Sunday with the
weeks main event, the $50,000 Budweiser Grand Prix of Lake
Placid for the Whitney Perpetual Challenge Trophy. Prior to the
Grand Prix, Sundays schedule will feature the Juliam Farm
Lead Line class and C.M. Hadfields Saddlery Parade of Champions.
Sundays action also features a full day of Hunter Classics
including the $3,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic, the $3,000
NAL Adult Amateur Hunter Classic as well as the $3,000 NAL Childrens
Hunter Classic.

Admission
to the Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows is $2.00 on weekdays
and $5.00 on weekends. Children under the age of 12 are admitted
free. Tickets are available at the gate.
