Marilyn Little Wins Hilton Resort Jump-off at 34th Annual Lake Placid Horse Show

Lake Placid, NY—June 28, 2003—Marilyn Little of Frederick, MD rode Champigny to victory in the Hilton Resort Jump-off Saturday at the 34th annual Lake Placid Horse Show.

Little was one of only five entries from the field of 25 to qualify for the tiebreaking jump-off by riding without penalty over the 13-jump first-round course at the North Elba Showgrounds. She then completed the six-jump jump-off course fault-free in 29.202 seconds to take the win away from Sydney Olympic veteran and seven-time American Grandprix Association (AGA) Rider of the Year Margie Goldstein Engle of Wellington, FL who had been leading with a clean ride and a time of 30.892 seconds on Hidden Creek’s Wapino.

Little and Engle are among the 31 entries scheduled to go in Sunday’s $50,000 Budweiser Grand Prix of Lake Placid for the Whitney Perpetual Challenge Trophy, the culminating event of the 2003 Lake Placid Horse Show. Prior to the Grand Prix, Sunday’s schedule features the Salamander Farm High Junior Jumper Classic and the Mirror Lake Inn Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, both member events of the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series which determines junior and amateur-owner entries for the 2003 National Horse Show. The Juliam Farm Lead Line class and C.M. Hadfield’s Saddlery Parade of Champions will then be held immediately before the Grand Prix which is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.

Sunday’s action also features a full day of Hunter Classics including the $3,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic, the $3,000 NAL Adult Amateur Hunter Classic as well as the $3,000 NAL Children’s Hunter Classic.

Following off days on Monday and Tuesday, the I Love New York Horse opens on Wednesday and continues through Sunday, July 6. The week’s featured event, the $50,000 Hermes I Love New York Grand Prix, is scheduled for Saturday, July 5.
