USET Names Short List for 2003 Pan American Eventing Championship

Gladstone, NJJune 12, 2003The United States Equestrian
Team (USET) has announced its Short List of horses and riders
for the 2003 Pan American Eventing Championship that will be held
in Fair Hill, MD, October 22 26. The Championship will
be held in conjunction with the Fair Hill International CCI***.

All of the horse/rider combinations on the Short List will be
required to demonstrate their continued preparation, soundness,
and ability by competing at a Mandatory Short List Outing that
will take place on September 26 - 28 in Southern Pines, NC, after
which the Pan Am Squad will be named. The Squad will be named
in two parts, an A squad (7 horse/rider combinations) and a B
squad (8 horse/rider combinations). The four horse-and-rider combinations
that will represent the U.S. in the team competition, and the
first three individuals who will join the four team members in
the individual competition, will be selected from the A squad.
The B squad will comprise the additional individuals the U.S.
is permitted to enter in the competition as the host country.
There
will be mandatory training sessions for the Short List in Southern
Pines from Sept. 22-25 (prior to the Mandatory Outing) and for
the Pan Am squad in Virginia from October 13 18.
The United States Equestrian Team is a non-profit organization
that selects, trains, equips and finances equestrians of the highest
possible standard to represent our country in major international
competition, including the Olympic Games and the World Championships.

of talented athletes - riders, drivers and horses - and provides
