July 2000 Next months Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair has received a major boost in securing television coverage. As one of Scotlands premier equestrian events set in the most beautiful part of Perthshire, it has attracted Laurie Ward Productions Ltd to film a one hour highlights programme which will be shown on Sky Sports 1, 2 and 3 and on BBC Scotland later in the year. Highland Perthshire is at its most spectacular in the undulating hills around historic Blair Castle, and with four days of filming during the event from 24th to 27th August, there will be plenty of time to catch all the action from the horse trials and Country Fair as well as the surrounding scenery. Event organiser Tim Hadaway is delighted with the deal and said, "The Bowmore Blair Castle Trials has always been one of the most popular events with riders who come from all over the world to compete here. Now many more people will be able to enjoy the excitement of cross-country day along with the elegance of dressage and the climax of the showjumping phase in the main arena below stunning Blair Castle." Chief Executive of Perthshire Tourist Board, John Grainger also welcomed the coverage and stated, "This very important and well-established event contributes significantly to tourism in Perthshire, not only in economic terms but also in helping to raise the awareness of Blair Atholl and Highland Perthshire." The Bowmore Blair Castle Horse Trials and Country Fair is approaching its 11th year and attracts over 20,000 visitors annually. It is much more than just an equestrian event nowadays, with a large tented village which offers unique shopping opportunities for everything from fine foods to Scottish crafts and jewellery.
