horse BHS RESCUE CENTRE OPEN DAY
Sunday 19 August 2001 11am - 4 pm
Stonecroft Yard, Oxhill, Warwickshire

A fun day out for all the family will be Sunday 19 August when the British Horse Society Rescue Centre has its Summer Open Day. Horse lovers everywhere will have the opportunity to see for themselves the work that the BHS does in rescuing neglected and ill treated horses and ponies.

Highlights of the day will include pony parades by both the rescue ponies at the Centre and those who have been re-homed; Caspar, the Shetland who was sold in a pub one Christmas and kept in a garden shed, will demonstrate his carriage driving skills; David Lloyd will give a demonstration of Western Riding, and there will be displays of Exmoors, Arabs, Dales and Irish Draught horses, as well as a dog agility demonstration and a Spanish horse extravaganza. Other attractions include a bouncy castle, stalls, raffle, beer tent and refreshments.

The day will provide the ideal opportunity to meet all the ponies on the "adopt a pony" scheme and learn a little of their history and why the scheme is so important in raising vital funds for the centre. BHS staff will talk about the problems associated with rescuing neglected ponies, and highlight important aspects of pony care: fat ponies can suffer just as much as thin ones, and nutrition and exercise play a vital part in equine welfare.

The day will be full of fun things to do and see, so bring the family along.
Family tickets £5, adults £2, children under 14 & OAPs £1 (under 5s free)
