horse Wine, horses and flamenco will meet in Jerez on September


From the 8th to the 24th september Jerez meet three of fundamental elements of the Andalusian culture on the occasion of the Autumn Celebrations 2001.


PRESS RELEASE (July 2001, Jerez de la Frontera, Spain).- The city of Jerez, the site of the World Equestrian Games 2002, has summoned a new edition of the Autumn Celebrations. For seventeen days, the visitors of this Andalusian city and its citizens will have the opportunity to enjoy diverse acts that gather the best of the wine culture, the horses and the Flamenco.

The celebrations will begin on September the 8th, coinciding with the beginning of the vintage that is the genesis of the Jerez-Sherry wine, a product that forms a part of the historical culture of the city and with a very important international reputation. For this motive, the first act will be the Show of "Pisa of the Grape", which commemorates the birth of the new must. The acts related to the wine native of Jerez de la Frontera will continue with the celebration of the Parade of the Wine and the organization of exhibitions.

Other one of the indispensable elements in the Autumn Celebrations are the horses. For centuries, Jerez has dedicated a great effort to taking care of the horse of pure Spanish race, giving place to the singular race of the Cartusian ones. Besides, the Andalusian city is a point of international reference in the equestrian world, both for its equine activities and for its election as site of the World Equestrian Games 2002. The acts related to the world of the horse include spectacles and parades, special shows of the Royal Andalusian School of the Equestrian Art, contest and exhibitions of carriages.

Jerez is an indisputable cradle of the Flamenco art, already it is sings, dance or guitar. This reality gives place to which the Flamenco arises spontaneously in any corner of Jerez, city that has given to the world some of the best and more prestigious names of the Flamenco world. The Autumn celebrations it grants to this genuine art a great protagonism, celebrating different cycles dedicated to the traditional Flamenco and to the new promises of it sings, the dance and the guitar.

All these activities will be with entertaiments in the streets with passacaglias, puppets and music. Definitively, Jerez will celebrate an authentic Andalusian celebration, which offers to the visitor an enjoyment of great quality, unique in the world.
