horse Prize Money At The 2002 Kerrygold Horse Show Increases 12 Per Cent
7 - 11 August 2002

The Royal Dublin Society has increased the prize money at the 2002 Kerrygold Horse Show by 12 per cent in 2002 to continue to attract the best jumping and showing competitors.

The richest competition at the Show, the Kerrygold International Grand Prix, will have a total prize fund of €96,000 an increase of €13,000 over 2001, ranking the competition as one of the most lucrative on the European jumping circuit. The winner will take home €32,000.

Prize money for the Kerrygold Classic has increased by €8,400 to €15,000 and the Kerrygold Speed Championship sees an increase of €4,000 to €15,000. The Kerrygold Six Bar, which replaces the Kerrygold Relay has increased by €5,000 to €11,500.

"It's not the prize money alone which attracts the top international riders to the Show. It's the prestige of competing at one of the best shows in the world and the craic that surrounds it. It's also considered one of the best social events on the annual equestrian circuit," says Gerry McAuliffe, Kerrygold Horse Show Director.

During the five days of the 2002 Kerrygold Horse Show in excess of €415,000 in prize money will be given out and 21 cups and trophies presented to the champions. The combined value of the 52 Perpetual Cups & Trophies is €294,857.

The most valuable trophy, the original Pembroke Cup, is now worth €33,000. This cup was won out in 1927 by Owen Ryan and his daughter, the late Sheila Ryan re-presented it to the Society in 1996 in memory of her father. The trophy is presented to the overall best filly in several classes.
