Garson Wins July 4 Feature at 25th Annual I Love New York Horse
Show

Nona Garson of Lebanon, NJ rode Capital S to victory in the $10,000
Golden Arrow Jump-off Thursday at the 25th Annual I Love New York
Horse Show.
Garson
was one of four entries among the 20 starters to qualify for the
jump-off round by riding penalty-free over the 14-jump first-round
course at the North Elba Showgrounds. Federico Sztyrle of Argentina
was first to try the eight-jump tiebreaker course and he set the
mark to beat when he finished fault-free in 37.197 seconds on
Caya.
After
Christine Tribble of Suffield, CT scored 12 jump-off faults on
After Eight, Garson moved into the lead with a fault-free finish
in 36.986 seconds on Capital S. The days final entry, two-time
Olympic veteran Lisa Jacquin of Collegeville, PA, scored eight
faults on Fabrege for a third-place finish behind Garson and Sztyrle.
Tribble finished fourth and Alberto Carmona of Venezuela was fifth
with four first-round faults on Justice.

than 1200 horses and the nations best show jumping riders
are at the I Love New York Horse Show which continues through
Sunday. The highlight of the I Love New York Horse Show is the
$50,000 I Love New York Grandprix on Saturday, July 6. Saturdays
schedule also features the horse shows 10th annual Doggie
Costume Contest sponsored by Lonesome Landing of Saranac Lake
and the Brown Dog Deli and Wine Bar of Lake Placid. All people
who bring leashed dogs in costume to the horse show on July 6
are admitted free. All dogs in the contest receive prizes and
everyone is invited to stay and watch the Grandprix.
The
horse show schedule also includes North American League (NAL)
classes, Adult/Children's Jumper events and Show Jumping Hall
of Fame Jumper Classic series events for junior riders and amateur-owner
riders on Saturday, July 6. Following the Hall of Fame amateur-owner
event, the $10,000 Pin Oak Farm Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic,
the horse show will present the Jimmy Quinn Award to the leading
amateur-owner rider of the Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse
Shows.

The
horse show features four rings of action with competition running
from 8:00 a.m. to late afternoon. Admission to the I Love New
York Horse Shows is just $2.00 on weekdays and $5.00 on weekends.
Children under the age of 12 are admitted free. Tickets are available
at the gate. Guided walking tours of the Lake Placid Horse Shows
are available at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday through Friday, for just
$1.00. Tours leave from the Lake Placid Horse Show retail booth.
