Showcased At The Vermont Summer Festival Horse Show
East
Dorset, VTJuly 11, 2002The top juniors in the country
were showcased in two featured events at the 2002 Vermont Summer
Festival at Harold Beebe Farm, in East Dorset, VT.
Courntey
McKay of Ocala, FL took home top honors in the BET/USET Show Jumping
Talent Search Class riding Pik Trump II, owned by Quiet Hill Farm
and Blair Hackel Weiss of North Salem, NY won the USA Equestrian
Hunter Seat Medal Class riding Charlie, owned by Gretchen Weiss.
McKay,
trained by Christina Schlusemeyer, bested a field of fifteen in
the prestigious BET/USET Show Jumping Talent Search to earn points
for qualification in the year-end finals that will take place in
the fall at the USET Olympic Training Center in Gladstone, NJ.
Weiss,
trained by Cynthia Williams, was called back second for the final
four test and improved her position as a result of a flawless performance
to take the blue ribbon.
Juniors
are also represented throughout the five weeks in several events
including the 2002 National Horse Sports Foundation Show Jumping
Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series, sponsored by Hand Motors and
Vermont Bracelet. The series offers a t $10,000 class each week.
The
North American League (NAL) gives juniors a chance to ride in hunter
and jumper classics as well as the Marshall & Sterling League,
presented by Corona/Lexol. Riders across the country are vying for
their chance to qualify for the North American League Finals, which
will be held in October at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show
in Harrisburg, PA.
The
ultimate goal for all juniors ins to someday ride in the Grand Prix
classes. At the Gvermont Summer Festival, a USET recognized $35,000
Grand Prix event is held featuring the stars of the industry both
nationally and internationally.
The
Vermont Summer Festival, which is New Englands largest AA
rated hunter-jumper horse show circuit, continues with the Manchester
Classic, July 17-21, The Valley Classic, July 24-28, and the Manchester
and the Mountains Horse Show, July 31-August 4. The action culminates
with the Vermont Summer Celebration, August 7-11.
