Jumping - Kerrygold Grand Prix League - Moloney Takes North
Wexford
|
NOT
EVERY rider feels comfortable on a new horse, and very few win on
their first time out.
And
the number of competitors who win a Grand Prix with their first
ride on a new horse must be even fewer.
But
Kilkenny's Eddie Moloney did just that today (Saturday), when he
took John Widger's <Kilmoylan Warrier> (sp) into the sunlit
sand arena of Barnadown Stud for the North Wexford leg of the Kerrygold
Grand Prix League.
First
in, and first clear, of the show, Eddie led the whole way through
and the combination proved to be unbeatable.<I
am just amazed, > said Eddie afterwards. <It's not the kind
of thing you expect, but I'm delighted, nevertheless.>
A
strong Army presence today saw Capt. Gerry Flynn and Lt. Shane Carey
feature in the Top Six, Flynn looking decidedly dangerous with his
second consecutive Grand Prix Second place, but no scores at North
Wexford managed to change the order at the top end of the Kerrygold
leaderboard.
Some
of the big guns featuring at tomorrow's (Sunday) Super League fixture
at Waterford Show may change that, but everyone should note that
Eddie Moloney will be there as well.
