Contest at North of Scotland Farriers' Competition
|
ILPH
Belwade Farm's shoe making competition, now in it's sixth year,
joined forces earlier this month with the Echt show to provide two
days of top quality competition farriery.
Conditions
at ILPH Belwade Farm, Aboyne on Sunday 13th July, the second day
of the farriers' competition were, it has to be said, hot, hot,
hot.
The
weather was hot, the forge was hot and the competition was very
hot. According to the judge, Mark Caldwell FWCF of Eurohoof from
Cheshire, he had a very hard job deciding on the winners because
the standard of farriery was so very high.
Final
results were:
"
The Eurohoof Overall Champion for the weekend was won by Jim Balfour
from Dundee;
" The Stromsholm Junior Overall Champion went to Lee Christie
from Fife;
" The Woodside Veterinary Group Open Therapeutic ILPH Shoe
Making competition was won by Jim Balfour;
" The Schielhallion ILPH Apprentice Shoe Making competition
was won by Alex Sharman from Dundee.
" Open Eagle Eye went to local farrier - Jason Sim from Stonehaven.
" Apprentice Eagle Eye went to Andrew Nicol from Fife.
" Playle Boys trophy was won by Andrew Nicol
Many
thanks to the event's sponsors, Eurohoof and Stromsholm, who donated
some very worthwhile trophies, and thanks must also go to Ken Playle
who made a beautiful trophy for the Apprentices.
