Lisa
Hancock, Managing Director of Newmarket, said: We were almost
1,000 up on Ladies Day and achieved the same on Wednesday - the
overall increase for the first two days is a pleasing 11.7% over
last year.
Another
high-quality card allied to some great summer weather has brought
in many more racegoers. We are delighted with how the 2003 July
Meeting is going.
The appearance of Australian sprinting sensation Choisir in todays
Group One £250,000 Darley July Cup means that Newmarket Racecourse
will have a strong Aussie flavour.
All
Australian passport holders will gain half-price admission to the
racecourse on Thursday, July 10, and it is hoped, that with so many
Australians living in London, a lot of them will come to Newmarket
to support the horse who has so enthralled the Australian public.
Choisir
became the first Australian-trained horse to win on the Flat in
Britain when he was triumphant in the King's Stand Stakes and four
days later took the Golden Jubilee Stakes, both at Royal Ascot last
month.
