EUROPEAN DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS - IRISH RIDER QUALIFIES FOR FINAL ROUND.

Senior Irish international dressage rider Anna Merveldt-Steffens has qualified for the final round of the European Dressage Championships in Verden, Germany this afternoon ( 11th August 2001 ).

Riding Darius 213 Anna will compete as one of the top 15 in the Kur ( dressage to music ) round tomorrow afternoon in Verden.

1. Ulla Salzgeber - Rusty - Germany - 1680 - 78.14%
2. Gerdijn Gonnelien Rothenberger - Jonggors Weyden - The Netherlands - 1612 - 74.97%
3. Arjen Teeuwissen - Gestion Goliath - The Netherlands - 1609 - 74.83%

Anna qualifies in 14th position as only three riders from any nation are permitted to compete in the final round. Therefore the lowest placed German and Dutch riders do not qualify.
