horse Sponsored Ride through Royal Parkland

Issued on behalf of the ILPH and BHS (Scotland)

On Saturday 22nd September horseriders will have the opportunity to enjoy a ride through magnificent royal parkland scenery as well as raise money for two equine charities.

HRH The Queen has kindly given her permission for the sponsored ride to take place in the Glenmuick area of the Balmoral Estate to raise money for the ILPH (International League for the Protection of Horses) and BHS Scotland.

There will be the option of a 6 km, 10 km or 20 km ride along grass and forestry tracks with stunning views and the opportunity to see roe and red deer.

Horses and ponies need to be fit because of the hilly terrain and participants are asked to try to raise at least £30 (adults) and £20 (12s and under) in sponsorship.

All the necessary back up support will be on hand should they be needed, a farrier, doctor, vet, trailer/ambulance and light refreshments will be on sale.

There will be four individual prizes on each of the three rides and rosettes for all of those who finish. Entries accepted by post or on the day. Those who will not be riding, but who wish to support the charities, can help by acting as road marshals, radio operators or at check points.

All those interested should contact either Rachel Argo at ILPH Belwade Farm, Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, AB34 5DJ, tel 01339 887186 or Helene Mauchlen at BHS Scotland, Woodburn, Crief, Perthshire, PH7 3RG, tel 01764 656334.
