Images of Equus 2001 Draws Entries From Around the World


Kalama, Wash. - Sixty-two images were featured at the premier of Images Of Equus 2001 photography competition this summer. The event was hosted by Wendi and Kelly Ross, owners of the Hunter & Gatherer Gallery of Kalama.

Equine photographers from across the U.S.A. and two foreign countries, Italy and Australia, competed. Divisions in both film and digital work were awarded a total $300 in cash prizes and ribbons through 5th place. A "People's Choice" award was voted by gallery visitors. In addition, exhibitors received a complimentary CD keepsake of all entries from Wendi and Kelly.

Placings in the film category included:
1st place - Lynn Rougeau, Romancing the Wind
2nd place - Kim & Kari Baker, Precious moments
3rd place - Carien Schippers, Thornapple Winter
4th place - Carien Schippers, Rushcreek Ranch
5th place - Kim & Kari Baker, Autumn Splendor

The digital category included:
1st place - Linda Shier, Rolling in the Dust
2nd - Linda Shier, Horses in the Mist
3rd - Linda Shier, Friends at Sunset
4th - Allen Rosen-Ducat, Teamwork
5th - Linda Shier, Horses In Love

The People's Choice award went to Wendi Ross for The Old Way.

Judges for this years event were Collette Edmunds, Ray Cooper, Debbie and
Gary Sumner.

It is noteworthy that the majority of entries came from members of EQUINE PHOTOGRAPHERS NETWORK, an organization formed by Carien Schippers, of Walton, New York, to showcase the talents of professional equine photographers from around the world.

Equine Photographers Network (at http://www.equinephotographers.net) is an internet directory of over 70 professional equine photographers.
