USA EQUESTRIAN ANNOUNCES RESULTS OF
PRUDENTIAL/AHSA NATIONAL HUNTER PONY CHAMPIONSHIP
USA Equestrian (formerly AHSA) announced today the
results of the Green Hunter Pony classes at the 2001 Prudential/AHSA National
Hunter Pony Championship, which took place on August 14th 2001 at the Western
North Carolina Agricultural Center, Fletcher, NC.
Exhibitors have gone head-to head in competition competing in an over fences
class, a model class and an under saddle class. Exhibitors competed against
riders from across the nation to vie for the top honors. Competitors qualified
to compete in this event by winning a Champion or Reserve Champions at an
"A" or "AA" rated AHSA competition between July 16, 2000
and July 15, 2001.
Overall Grand Champion Green Hunter Pony - Blue Suede Shoes ridden by Lindsey
Nolan, Fairview, PA; owner - Jordon Dowler, Meadville, PA.
Reserve Grand Champion Green Hunter Pony - Fortune Cookie ridden by Jamie
Gibson Ocala, FL; owner - Quiet Hill Farm, Ocala, FL.
The judges for the Hunter Pony classes were Kip Rosenthal, Stamford, CT, Betty
Oare, Warrenton, VA and Jeff Wirthman, Island Lake, IL.
The AHSA Pony Finals runs through Friday and will include the Pony Medal,
Small, Medium and Large Pony classes as well as the Team and Individual Jumper
Championships.
USA Equestrian Inc., as the National
Equestrian Federation of the U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and
World Championship sports of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining,
show jumping, and vaulting, as well as 19 other breeds and disciplines of
equestrian competition. As the country's largest multi-breed organization, the
Federation has over 77,000 members and recognizes more than 2,800 competitions
nationwide each year. It governs all aspects of competition, including
educating and licensing all judges, stewards, and technical delegates who
officiate at these shows.
