Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials

The Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials got off to the best possible start yesterday in glorious sunshine with the first day of dressage.

In the lead in the two star class was Erica Watson of Worcestershire with Tango Romeo on a score of 48. She was leading
from Laurence Hunt of Surrey, while the best placed Scottish rider was Peter Laidlaw from Dumfriesshire in sixth place.

Ruth Friend from Cumbria has had success at Blair in the past and she was leading the CCI* dressage after the first day with Mister Barnabus, ahead of Heidi Simmons from Yorkshire and The Biz.

There is another day of dressage today (Friday) before the excitement of the speed and endurance on Saturday and Sunday's final showjumping phase.

Results: CCI** - 1, Erica Watson (GBR), Tango Romeo (48.0); 2, Laurence Hunt (GBR), Parkfields Lion King (50.4); 3, Lisa Maynard (GBR), Sky Sport (52.01); 4, Terry Boon (GBR), The Irish Gunner (52.8); 5, Rachael Thompson (GBR), Uptons Deli Circus (53.81); 6, Peter Laidlaw (SCO), River Rose (56.0).
