The Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair

Blair Atholl, Perthshire
Thursday 22nd - Sunday 25th August 2002

Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials

After two days of dressage at the Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials, Terry Boon from England has taken the lead in the two star class with a score of 43.4.

He leads Ruth Friend and Muschamp Impala by less than one penalty point and is looking forward to today's speed and endurance phase.

In the busy one star section, overnight leader Ruth Friend and Mister Barnabus now share the lead with Nini French and Pick and Mix II on an equal score of 42.1.

Not surprisingly the English team of Darrell Scaife, Helen Wilson, Anne-Marie Taylor and Lucy Wiegersma are well in front in the team competition after dressage, with Scotland in third place. In the one star team competition, again England are in first place with Scotland in third and fourth.

Today competitors take in the scenery round the Blair Castle Estate as they complete about 14km of speed and endurance
including the spectacular cross-country phase which has over 20 solid timber fences.

The climax of the event is tomorrow, when riders showjump in reverse order of merit in the arena below the castle.
