Hazel's
Horse Wins Again At Celbridge
The
horse of the late Hazel O'Callaghan, the show jumper who died on
July 3 after injuries sustained in a fall, today (Sunday) won its
second Grand Prix of the season, at Celbridge, South County Dublin,
with the only clear round in the jump-off.
Ridden
once more by 25 yr old Paul O'Shea from Co. Limerick , the horse
<Liffey Valley>, previously ridden by 22 year old Hazel before
her tragic accident, also won the Grand Prix at Newcastle West last
month
The
horse is owned by Hazel's mother, Shelagh O'Callagan, wife of Cork
property developer Owen O'Callaghan.
O'Shea
also took 4th place today, riding Anne Wilkinson's <Kildare>.
The
South County Dublin Grand Prix is part of the national Kerrygold
Grand Prix League.
The
result of today's Grand Prix catapults Limerick rider Shane Breen
from 5th to 2nd position in the Kerrygold League, with 12 points
for his 2nd place at Celbridge. But Co. Down's Conor Swail is still
far out in front, with a gap of almost 40 points.
